The walk score - as determined by www.walkscore.com - for our area is 0 out of 100 and gives us the car-dependent rating.
And if we look onto www.openstreetmaps.com there are too many blanks and missing roads. Time for some WICE and community action to put us and the facilities in the area on the map.

What a cracker
Another brilliant Field Day at Whitechapel and Inglewhite on Saturday. Despite a short rain shower during the start of the fancy dress event, the weather held out for a great afternoon of track races, the cross country race and a fun adult 'super hero' relay.
Following the races the community tea was well attended by approx 200 people who saw an audio visual presentation of the afternoons achievements and trophies awarded to the winners. All received a merit medal.
The evening was rounded off with a family disco with the Great Aldini in the village Hall.
It is now a well established tradition that the event is funded by the community 'collection' prior to the day. Once again the organisers and all who enjoyed the day are grateful for the generosity of the community in supporting the event.
The present organising committee, having introduced a number of new ideas over their five year life, are now looking for new people to get involved to take the field day forward. If interested, come along to the field day review meeting in the Green Man on July 21st at 7.30pm

Field Day 08
Field Day is on this Saturday. Once again we have booked the good weather and looking for help to set up on the Friday night from 7pm for an hour to set up tables and on Saturday morning from 9am to prepare food and the field.
As you know the Field Day tradition is that collections to raise contributions for the day are made in advance. However if you haven't contributed as yet, don’t worry, there will be a collection point at the entrance to the field. Thanks.
We are also looking for new ideas and people on the committee, so if you want to get involved have a chat on Saturday or pop along to our next meeting on the 21st July.
See you Saturday for another cracking Field Day, Community Tea and Family Disco

Firewhite
It is said that owing to the mossy, swampy land which adjoins the west side of the Green, Inglewhite was once famous for the ignis-fatuus - moving whitish fire - vulgarly called "will-o-the-wisp" and "Jack-with-the-lantern" from which it is probable that Inglewhite had its name.
Ingle, being another name for fire, so by transposition we have Firewhite or Inglewhite.
This is an extract from Goosnargh Past and Present, published in 1887 by Richard Cookson
